Stella is a classically trained teacher with a modern sound. She started learning the piano under the Yamaha Music Education system in Taiwan and switched to Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) after moving to Canada. She studied with the famous “Three Parkers” Canadian concert pianist family, Eileen Parker and Edward Parker of Burnaby.  She holds RCM’s ARCT in Piano Performance and ARCT Piano Pedagogy. She played the clarinet in her high school concert band. She also has a Master’s degree in Science so she can play with crystal clear clarity on pieces that require it.

Her approach to teaching is to focus a lot on the students’ own music interests to cultivate authentic interest and enjoyment in music. She teaches tried-and-true classical fundamental music elements such as rhythm, technique and phrasing that give structure and support to students’ development. She works with students on interpretation of pieces as eventually students have to make the music their own.
