Quincy Mayes is a professional pianist, composer, producer and music educator working mainly in the realms of Jazz, Classical, Alternative RnB/Neo Soul, Electronic and film music. Having studied classical piano and theory since the age of 4, Quincy achieved his Grade 9 RCM with distinction by the age of 15. Using his classical training as a platform, he began studying the history of Jazz, completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in New York City in 2013 with a focus on jazz piano studies.
With over 17 years of experience as a music teacher, Quincy combines his wealth of experience as a performer with deep theoretical understanding. Quincy’s primary goals as a teacher are to encourage creative, open minded approaches to music, along with a student-specific, tailored approach to lesson structure. He has performed, recorded and taught in Canada, the US, Europe, and Asia Pacific, and continues to expand his horizons further into the world of film music composition in recent years.
